Turmeric vanilla coffee

Turmeric coffee final

About:

Usually Indian women use turmeric as a facial cleanser and exfoliant. My mom used to prepare turmeric milk when we had cold. Winter calls for a cold so wanted to try turmeric milk and hubby loves coffee so thought of adding a bit of ground coffee in the same milk and tried to convert this to a hot coffee drink, which would be perfect for the weather.

About the taste it tasted like caramel coffee bit salty and flavor of turmeric taste in vanilla coffee and after sipping this I could feel ease in breathing with my blocked nose.

Health benefits:

Ginger and turmeric are two powerful spices that have been used widely throughout history for both culinary and medical purposes. Using these spices in recipes provides a way to season a variety of foods without adding sodium or fat. As supplements, ginger has been frequently used in traditional and herbal medicines and turmeric has long been used to treat various physical ailments.

Serves- 2
Preparation time- 5 minutes
Cooking time- 15 minutes

  • Almond milk/ any milk of choice- 3 cups
  • Ground instant coffee-2 tbsp (or as per the taste)
  • Turmeric-2 tsp
  • Vanilla extract-2 tsp
  • Freshly grated ginger-1 tsp
  • Stevia/any sweetner-2 tsp (or as per taste)

Procedure:

  • Add milk to a small saucepan and heat on a medium flame until it comes to boil
  • Then add turmeric, ginger and simmer for 10-12 or until it thickens a bit.
  • Now add ground coffee, sweetener, vanilla to two mugs .
  • Pour a Small amount of hot milk into mugs and stir to create a liquid paste, ensuring there are no lumps.
  • Then add the remaining milk to mugs and enjoy hot drink.

Note:

  • I boiled ginger, turmeric along with milk so that it reduces the raw taste
  • You could prepare this drink with the milk of your choice. If you decide to go with a lower calorie milk such as almond or cashew milk, you could add a bit of coconut cream.
