Stove top Cookies/Clusters – Quick snack

Cookies12

About:

It is pretty easy to make biscuits on the stove-top. SUPER easy! And kids absolutely loved them. So much so that at lunch time when I made them, they ate up the entire batch.

They are very soft while making on Tawa/stove top so flip them carefully. Even if they break don’t worry they can still be enjoyed as clusters for a light snack or even for breakfast with milk.

Yields-8-10
Preparation time-10 minutes
Cooking time-10 minutes/ batch

Ingredients;

  • Wheat flour-3/4cup
  • Instant oats-1/4cup
  • Corn starch-1tbsp
  • Salt- a small pinch
  • Baking powder-1tsp
  • Sunflower spread/butter-3tbsp
  • Sunflower seeds-2tbsp
  • Pumpkin seeds-2tbsp
  • Dates paste-1/4cup
  • Any milk-2-3tbsp (as required to form a dough)

Procedure:

  • In a mixing bowl combine wheat flour, oats, corn starch, baking powder, salt, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and mix well to combine.
  • Melt sunflower spread/butter and add to the flour mixture lightly mix, add dates paste and mix again.

Cookies2

  • Now add 1tablespoon of milk at a time (adding more might make the dough soggy as the butter and dates paste would have added enough moisture to the mixture) just enough to form a stiff dough.
  • Now divide the dough into equal portion and take one portion flatten it between the palms slightly (for even cooking make sure the cookies are not too thick)

Cookies3

  • Heat a pan/tawa on a medium flame and place the 4-5 cookies at a time and cook on a very low flame(if using gas lower flame and electric stove upto 3 mark)

Cookies10

  • Now cook for 3-4 minutes and don’t try to flip before this as the cookies might break.
  • After 4 minutes flip over and cook on the other side for 3-4 minutes.
  • Repeat with the remaining dough.

Enjoy as a whole cookie

Make clusters store in an air tight container and enjoy for breakfast.

Cookies14

Note:

  • Here I used oats as is-but it can be ground to fine powder and then use in the cookies.
  • Plaing flour/APF can be used alternatively to wheat flour for added texture.
  • To make dates paste-deseed and chop dates and blend in the food processor to smooth paste.
