Ragi oats masala roti (Finger Millet Spicy Indian Bread):

Ragi masala roti

About:

Ragi roti is a breakfast food in state of Karnataka, India which is nutritious. In this recipe I included oats which makes it rich in fiber, flaxseed /linseed rich in omega-3 with vegetables and a blend of spices.

Health Benefits:

Nutritionally, when ragi is used as a whole grain, it is higher in protein and minerals in comparison to all other cereals and millets. It is a remarkable source of protein, making it perfect for vegetarian diets.
Oats is one of the most nutritious food and one of the easy one to digest. It is rich in calcium and protein and also a good amount of iron and other minerals. It is low in fat most of which are unsaturated fats.

Baked – Yellow moong dal dahi/yogurt Vada

Dahi vada

About:

Traditionally dahi vadas are deep fried dumplings soaked in yogurt but for the healthier option choose baking , this can be served as a snack or chaat.

These are baked lentil dumplings dipped in yogurt and topped with spices. To make it low in calorie I have baked vadas instead of deep fry; Also used yellow moong dal instead of urad dal, which is packed with calcium and proteins. (Though I bake many dishes but to bake vadas the confidence came only after checking post from Vidya @ Traditionally Modern Food).

This appetizer can be served with dates -tamarind chutney or mint chutney.

Makes: 4-5servings
Preparation time: 15mins
Baking time: 30mins
